We’re proud to share that our CEO, Dr. Amanda Alonzo, was recently featured in VoyageLA Magazine’s Exploring Life & Business series, which highlights inspiring leaders and changemakers throughout Los Angeles.
In this feature, Dr. Alonzo opens up about her incredible journey from humble beginnings and military service to becoming a Latina, neurodivergent psychotherapist, professor, and business owner who is transforming mental health care across California.
💙 A Journey Rooted in Resilience and Purpose
Dr. Alonzo’s story begins with determination and compassion. Growing up in a low-income household, she learned early the importance of hard work and perseverance. After enlisting in the U.S. military at just 17, she discovered her passion for leadership, structure, and service, which later inspired her to help others heal from trauma.
Her path led her to earn a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy and to establish Blu Alliance Counseling Center in Covina, California, a practice built on empathy, diversity, and authenticity.
As a Latina, veteran, and autistic therapist, and as the mother of an autistic son, Dr. Alonzo brings a deeply personal understanding to her work. She is dedicated to creating spaces where clients of all backgrounds, especially those who have been marginalized or misunderstood, feel seen, supported, and safe.
“Healing begins in safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive spaces,” says Dr. Alonzo. “We exist to show that healing is not one size fits all. It’s personal, it’s cultural, and it’s deeply human.”
